The Capri in competition had a life of 18 years, which as well as saloon, it was also used in rally cross! (which it was really crap at). The rally cross version was born in 1969 and had four wheel drive that caused no and of reliability problems (no wonder that they pulled out of rally cross after 2 years). In 1971 an RS2600 one its first race in the UK British Saloon Car Championship. So was the Capri a complete flop in the racing department?, well yes and no. The only racing Capri swan song was the German Zakspeed.
