My old Brooklands

Welcome to my Ford Capri website. I have removed the parts section as it was too much for me. I received emails from all (and I mean ALL) over the world, so if there is anyone out there prepared to do it, good luck and if you are rich, remember me!! You will also notice that there is no 'Anorak' type of talk, I found that looking at performance figures, weight, height, speed etc...bores me.

5TH FEBRUARY 1969, that's when it went on sale to the public. One thing I notice about other Capri driver's is that, passing another one on the road always raises a smile and a wave, even though we don't know each other!

What is it about owning a Capri? The looks I get whilst driving mine, are faultless. I could (and have) pulled up against the lights, next to a Porsche or a Jag, but people walking the crossing will always look at my Capri, and the grin on my face just gets bigger and bigger. The sense of nostalgia is incredible. Yes I know there is a stigma that goes with Capri owners (you should see the leopard skin presents I keep getting!) but you cannot beat the sense of 'look at what I've got, and what you haven't'.

I have looked on the world wide web, and found some web sites that are ok, and some not so ok. So I thought I would make my own, providing you with all of the information I have acquired about the Ford Capri (sad or not) over the last 20 + years. (The amount of emails I am getting a day proves the point by the look of it!).

A big thanks to the Capri Club International for advertising this site in their superb monthly publication.

Anyway enough my our carry-on, look around and hopefully it will contain information that you may or may not of already heard of.

Let me say that 'the car you always promised yourself', could not be truer. I have been a fan of this car for over 20 odd years now. Is the Capri 280 the best Capri of all time ever?  if not let me know your views. The Ford Probe and Cougar were supposed to be the modern equivalents to the Ford Capri, I don't think so do you? I mean how many years did Ford produce these cars in comparison to the Capri!

Do you know of anyone with a Capri with leopard skin seat covers? if you do contact me with proof, and I will detail it on the site. The Capri started it's life in 1964. It was the year that the USA launched the Ford Mustang. In Britain in that year we were all driving around in Anglia's, Cortina's, Corsairs and Zephyrs. The only half decent car around in them days was the Lotus Cortina which was supposed to be unreliable. I believe around only 1500 odd Capri Classic's were made.

People have asked me (especially Rude Plates) if I could have a choice of any Capri, what would it be? Now that's an impossible question to answer, that's like being asked to write down your favourite top ten songs of all time! Well my answer was narrowed down to three:

1) The RS3100 road version, you can hear them coming a mile off, and how many do you see.

2) The Brooklands 280, such a limited number left and the complete leather interior makes a huge difference ( I know I owned one).

3) The Crayford conversion, driving with the top down in a MK I appeals to me.

I would like to thank the following in no particular order who I wanted to be part of this:

West Ham Steve (best brother in the world). Sara, Ashleigh and Hannah. M1CKY. Toon army bird & toonettes. Rude Plates. The David Ginola loving trollop! (you definitely know who you are!!!!!). Alex, Garry, Ellen & Thomas (converted West Ham fans). Little Legs Bundock. Best mechanic Lee (top bloke!), Sara M (BIG Kylie fan) & Dazza (pity Milwall!). Plug, The happy scouser with the pink shell suit. Cry baby where are you now!. The Scorah residence. The Smurf lovers. Coco & Bournville (Sue the 'KY jelly expert' knows). Jo 'Mad bird' Taylor (if you own a fast bike, you are in with a chance!). Graham & Bev ( I bet you wish your exhaust sounded like mine did!). Mr Brett look after my old Brooky! John ' AA Man' (cracking X Pack, but when are we going to see it on the road again?) and all Capri owners around the world.

If there is any information on this web site that is incorrect PLEASE let me know!
